Strategic Plan 2022-2026

Our Strategic Plan is to make sure we provide ‘care, connection and compassion for all’. Our strategy explains our goals, main issues and our commitment to:

• providing quality health care to the Wide Bay area
• future-proofing our hospital and health services
• respecting human rights when we make decisions
• recognising First Nations peoples and the traditional custodians of the lands we work and live on when we provide health care.

Health Services Plan 2022-2037

Our Health Services Plan sets out our strategic plan that we'll carry out in the next 5 years. It also gives an overview of our plan and vision for the next 15 years.

We've created it to meet our community's specific health needs, now and in the future. Our health services plan supports our ongoing commitment to modern, quality and sustainable health care services.

The Health Service Plan also supports our strategic plan and goals. It explains what health services we need based on our local area needs assessment (LANA). It also helps guide our other service plans including:

• a new Bundaberg hospital
• growing our specialist health services across the Wide Bay area
• building a new mental health inpatient centre in Hervey Bay.

Local Area Needs Assessment report (LANA)

Our Local Area Needs Assessment (LANA) report gives an overview of our main community health needs. We publish it every 3 years. It helps us decide what health care services our community needs the most based on:

• what our staff and our community have told us
• information and data we have about our patients.

Health care priorities

Our top 5 health care needs are:

• complex care for older people
• better mental health care
• ways to prevent chronic diseases
• ways to prevent common cancers
• ways to prevent unhealthy weight and obesity in our community.

Quality of Care report 2023-2024

Our Quality of Care report is an annual document reporting on the quality of services delivered by Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS).

The report's aim is to increase public awareness of health service performance, as well as to enhance accountability and drive quality improvement.  The Quality of Care report demonstrates our commitment to providing the best possible outcomes for the patients and communities we serve.

The report has been designed to demonstrate our commitment to the strategic directions laid out in our WBHHS Strategic Plan 2022-2026 - Care, connection, compassion for all.
